The bench press could be a dangerous exercise if you do not know what you are doing. There are many cues that you should hit to avoid any injury.

These 5 photos go in-depth on what you should do to have an ideal bench press. The bench press is just not about pushing the weight up and down. If you want to gain optimal strength these tips are your best bet. The camera angle on the first screenshot gives a good idea of where your hands should be. An overhead view such as that gives the viewer a better visual of what they should do with their hands and how they should start the exercise. The other 4 photos are shown from the side which is good because you want to see how the bench press looks from the side.

As I mentioned you do not want to just push the weight up and down. From the side, you would want to see the weight being pushed up and away from your body as if it was at an angle.

The photos alone do not do the exercise justice that is why there are words associated with the photos. The bench press is a complex exercise and there should be little room for error. Although you can learn visually it is better if you understand the words of the movement so you can have it stored in your brain when it is time to hit those cues.

I would wish for the audience to take the knowledge that was given and apply it to their workouts. The bench press should be a staple in someone’s routine and should be one of the few exercises you try to master as quickly as possible. Doing so would help your strength and benefit you in other exercises.
