Stepping into the gym for the first time can be a tricky place to navigate. There are all these weights and machines and it can be overwhelming to a beginner.

  1. Set Goals

Before you even go in a gym and work out, you want to figure out what you want to do with your body and what type of goals do you want to hit. Do you want to lose weight, gain weight, gain muscle, or a little bit of everything? These questions give you a guideline of what you are going to at the gym and motivation for your end goal.

2. Be Consistent

You are not going to get your dream body in one day, or even one week. You have to continue working hard day in and day out in order to get the body you want to see.

3. Train With A Friend

Going to the gym by yourself may not be the best idea for most people. Doing something new by yourself is scary and going with someone who is experienced may give you the motivation you need to push through. Your friend could essentially be your personal trainer without having to pay them.

4. Warm Up

You don’t want to pull a muscle on your first day in the gym. Making sure your muscles are warmed up and ready to work is as important as lifting weights.

5. Time of Day

The time of day varies for each person. You have to find which time of day works best for your schedule. Going to the gym is a commitment and you don’t want to rush through it. You want to make sure you have as much time as you need in order to get the proper work in. 6. Drinking Water

This may seem like a no brainer, but drinking water before, during, and after your workout is vital for your growth. Water would allow you to not dehydrate during your workouts and give you your best effort.

7. Eating Proper Foods

You don’t want to work hard in the gym for 60-90 minutes and throw it down the drain by getting some McDonald’s. Eating the right foods is as, if not, more important than lifting weights. You have to make sure your body gets the proper nutrition in order to recover from your workouts. The amount and type of food you eat is based on your goals and is different for each person.
