Interview with my sister

For this post, I decided that the person I wanted to interview was my older sister Emily.

I decided to interview her about her  job to dive deeper into what she really does. My sister’s job is  as a client based customer support for an electronic trading platform at a financial trading company where  she is a senior member on her team.

The way she got the job she has now, was by first starting off there as an intern when she was going into her senior year of college  for the same company.

She made sure that she worked really hard at the job and that   she stood out, and after that summer she ended up getting the full time offer to work there.

One thing I found interesting was that she talked about how she really was more of a liberal arts person and not more of a financial  tech person, so the main parts of the job that she has now are not really something that she envisioned herself doing while she was in school as it was out of her  comfort zone.

Because of this the main day to day work that she does isn’t really what she would call something she saw herself doing forever, but what she does enjoy and what keeps her there is how the job challenges her and always has her doing new things and learning new skills.

She enjoys seeing how something like this helped her grow and give her brand new skills, such as operating in a  financial  tech space, and learning  how to stay calm in different environments and how to become resourceful and find new ways to do things that she found different from the way she usually worked.

The way that a person would solve problems as a liberal arts person is completely different from how a person would solve problems as a financial tech person as the jobs are so different,  so it gave her the possibility to learn how to think as both kinds of people.

This interview gave insight to what my sister really does and how  the job helped her grow as a person and in a way become a brand new kind of worker.
