UF Starting QB

Florida should play Anthony Richardson over Emory Jones at QB
5 Emory Jones 15 Anthony Richardson

Every one wants to know who will be the starting quarterback for the Florida Gators this year. The Junior Emory Jones or freshman Anthony Richardson.

You would think this would be an easy question but it really isn’t. While Emory Jones is older and a little more experienced, AR is very talented.

Every time AR it seems like he scores. He scores once every ten snaps which is just insane to think about in division 1 football.

In week one and two AR and Emory Jones pretty much switched of every drive and they both were playing great. AR got hurt with a hamstring injury while running for a touchdown in week 2.

So, this leaves only Emory Jones able to play in week 3 against the number one team in the country Alabama. Florida got down early and behind a not so good Emory Jones.

Something happened though in the second half. Coming into the second half Florida was down 21-9 and Emory Jones went off brining the game 31-29 withe a 2-point conversion to tie the game.

Emory Jones played so well in the second half that head coach Dan Mullen had AR sit out another week to rest the hamestring even though he was almost 100%.

Dan Mullen even let Emory Jones start calling some plays in week 4 against Tennessee which means Dan Mullen is starting to believe in Emory Jones.

In my opinion Emory Jones has won the starting spot at quarterback but AR will still have some playing time just not as much as before.

  1. With both QBs healthy, do you think one should be the starter or should they split time? If you believe one should be the starter, who would you start?

    1. I think Emory Jones should be the starter but I think AR should still get some playing time. Instead of 50/50 I think it should be 70/30 or even 80/20 Emory Jones.

  2. Emory Jones looked great this weekend. I think he stays as the QB for the Gators. Unless something happens to Jones or he starts to play poorly, it’s his job to lose.
