The NFL is currently the most popular watched sport in the U.S currently. The Super Bowl most often times, is the most watched sports event of the year.

History of the NFL: the beginnings of the league formed in 1920. There were 10 teams in the original league, but none of those teams exist today. The Greenbay Packers are the longest running and oldest franchise in the NFL. They still exist today.

In 1922, the league became the NFL, which it is known as today. In 1959, there was a new league formed to rival the NFL called the American Football League (AFL). The league was actually very successful, and both the leagues fought over players.

In 1970, the two leagues merged together and formed one league. They kept the name of the NFL.

Today: There are currently 32 teams in the NFL, with 2 main conferences. The AFC and the NFC. Each conference has 4 divisions with 4 teams in each division.
